What a great morning we had. Elroy stopped by unexpectedly and took Scott, Hannah and I on a hike. It was sunny in Honokaa but pretty misty in gulches just off from Waimea. This picture shows how steep the gulch cliffs are and we were high enough up that you couldn’t see the bottom. In the bottom left corner there is wild ginger growing. I was able to get a piece of rhizome with buds to grow back on the farm. When you go out into the forest here it sometimes feels like I’m in a warm version of the Pacific Northwest. The way the vegetation grows just feels like that. We were nibbling on wild raspberries as we went along too.
