A Journey in Sustainable Farming

Current Location:
Hawai'i, The Big Island

Elroy showed me how to husk a coconut last week. The idea is to hit it really hard on a sharp point (like a pickaxe) on the end that attached to the stem. Once you get into the fiborous part of the husk you twist it so the pick goes through the side and push it so it tears a line along the side. Do that a couple times and then you can pull the husk off in chuks like I’m doing in the picture.

SHIT! He made it look so easy! In the time it took him to husk and open the coconut I haven’t even got it half way off lol. Will post the result of the coconut adventure… if there is a result…

Welcome to my blog! I have many plans for this site. Previously, this site was used to give information to people in Walnut Creek, CA who were interested in my backyard farming services. Now that I'm out travelling I've converted it to a blog about my journeys.

What inspires my interest in sustainable farming? I'm a food lover who's quite fascinated by nature! It's no wonder that I enjoy growing plants - especially the edible varieties! This blog is about my adventure of traveling and growing food as I go.
