A Journey in Sustainable Farming

Current Location:
Hawai'i, The Big Island

Cooking experiment #2 was making some form of bread. I tell you I’m quite dissatisfied with the bread sold in stores here. They target the islanders, obviously, who think of bread as more of dessert food. It’s always airy, white and sweet… even the “whole wheat” loaf I bought at a health food store. So, without an oven, I tried a pan bread recipe. I pan fried half of the dough. It basically made a naan type bread, but I’ve gotta be carefully to not burn it. The second half of the dough I rolled into little rolls and steamed ‘em. It only took ~10 min to cook and they were done all the way through! Based on this little experiment I think I’ll be able to make steamed bagles! Will let you know how that goes!

Welcome to my blog! I have many plans for this site. Previously, this site was used to give information to people in Walnut Creek, CA who were interested in my backyard farming services. Now that I'm out travelling I've converted it to a blog about my journeys.

What inspires my interest in sustainable farming? I'm a food lover who's quite fascinated by nature! It's no wonder that I enjoy growing plants - especially the edible varieties! This blog is about my adventure of traveling and growing food as I go.
